Common Fence Music Membership Program News

Dear Music Lovers,

Common Fence Music will once again be offering a Membership Program for the 21st Season!  Members take advantage of discounted tickets and the ability to lock in their future show choices.  And a special thanks from the board to the folk music fans who “took the chance” to become CFM members last year!

CFM remains the best choice for folk and roots music entertainment in the area!  The CFPIA Hall on Anthony Road in Portsmouth was the original home of CFM’s Picnic Series, and will continue to host the majority of shows for the 21st season.   These shows are especially designed to encourage the sharing of a picnic dinner (the folk tailgate) before the show.  The CFPIA location is easy to get to, and offers free parking to concertgoers.  This coming season, the Picnic Series features some great new acts with an international flavor.  Here are two that you will be sure to enjoy:  The Jammin' Divas songs reflect that members hail from Australia, Ireland, Israel and the USA; The Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble may be from Boston, but their songs harken back to 19th century Jewish life in Europe. Finally internationally traveled and acclaimed Malcolm Holcombe – is a CFM Musical Director’s pick!  Common Fence Music at Channing Church Series in Newport continues with folk music legend Peter Yarrow on March 1.  On April 26, we are excited to bring legendary folk artist Tom Rush to Bazarsky Hall on the Salve Regina University campus in Newport.

What are the changes in the CFM Membership Program?  First, the basic membership idea has not changed:  The annual membership fee remains at $55.00!  Members can select three (3) tickets from the list of 16 Picnic Series concerts on the downloadable application form. In addition, members have the opportunity to purchase tickets at the advance ticket price from our entire line-up, including Fiddlers & Fishermen #15, folk favorite John Gorka, a new twist to The Horn of Plenty Music harvest show, the legendary Aine Minogue and her Winter Solstice performance, Tom Rush at Salve Regina University and Peter Yarrow at Channing Church.  These shows typically sell out in advance, so get your tickets when you apply for membership! Additional savings:  generally, ticket prices at the door will be $2 - $4 higher than the advance ticket price.

You can also purchase tickets to Common Fence Music Steps Out, our Dinner Dance at the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown, RI set for November 7.  The Jason Spooner Band will be providing the entertainment, and we plan to have lots of fun with the Silent Auction and multiple-prize raffle that will be part of the night.

Please download and fill out the application form, indicating the number of memberships, the concert(s) you wish to attend, and the number of tickets for each concert. Please mail the completed form and your check or money order to the address indicated.  And please let family members and friends know about this opportunity.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I hope you choose to renew or become a new CFM member. Your membership is a vote of support for the CFM mission to bring underexposed folk and roots musicians to our area for our collective enjoyment!
